Theory and practical training
Theory lessons are organised at the school's training centre and come before practical training. Practical lessons begin in quiet areas and then progress to Kifisias Avenue, more central roads, motorways and other demanding conditions.
See in detailTheory lessons, familiarisation with the book and preparation for the theory test.
Driving position, controls, steering wheel, gears, clutch, accelerator and brake.
Reversing, parking, reversing, hills and safe handbrake use.
Lane changes, Kifissia, Athens center, highway, exam area and mountain driving.
Indicative schedule
The following plan is indicative and shows the flow of the process. Actual dates are not binding, as they are affected by exam availability, Ministry of Transport workload and student readiness.
We start by checking the supporting documents, the application, the data and the required actions on gov.gr.
The school forwards the file once the online procedures are complete and the information is correct.
With the issuance of the card, the continuation of training and examinations can be organized.
Theoretical courses take place in the center of the school and are compulsory. Before coming, it helps to have done a simple reading of the theory book.
The practicals start after the theoretical ones. If you are ready, the planning of the theory exam can proceed in parallel.
The date must be communicated to the school at least 4 working days in advance. If there is a failure, a new theory test is scheduled.
With success in theory and once the student has completed the necessary practical preparation, the practical exam can be scheduled.
If there is a failure in the first practical test, the candidate can be rescheduled after 7 days.
With a positive result, a temporary license is issued by gov.gr, so that you can drive until the new license is issued.
The new driving license is collected from the school when it is issued. The final time does not depend only on the faculty.
Practical car training program
The following program is not binding. It is adjusted according to the performance of each student and concerns a beginner student aged 18. As age increases, the number of courses required for the same performance usually increases, with the natural exceptions of each student.
The program covers the mandatory 25 hours of 45 minutes, which are usually done in double 45-minute sessions, i.e. around 13 lessons.
Open as a separate pageMeet the teacher, explain basic controls, learn to position the vehicle in the field and first application. In this phase the student only handles the steering wheel.
Application of the first lesson and then an explanation of the gear lever and the correct use of the gears.
After the student applies the knowledge of the first two lessons, we proceed to the explanation and correct use of the clutch.
Repeated clutch use, harder hill practice, learning clutch balance and driving on slightly more central roads.
Correct use of accelerator and brake, special emphasis on braking and first substantial contact with behavior towards pedestrians, vehicles and bicycles.
Driving on narrow and uphill roads to refine clutch, brake and steering, increasing simultaneous handling.
Learning to backtrack in a straight line, first very slowly and then at a faster speed, so that the student learns to correct mistakes quickly and safely.
Parking in a large space and then in a narrower uphill or downhill space. Learning to start using the parking brake on a steep hill.
Back angle learning with and without stops. When the student is ready, practice also takes place in a real parking lot.
Increasing average speed, driving in Kifisias, overtaking, changing lanes and driving in the center of Athens to familiarize yourself with complex situations.
Driving on the motorway, entering and exiting, overtaking, safety distances, emergencies and driving at the speed limit of the road.
Course in the examination area so that the student becomes familiar with the roads and requirements of the examination area.
Fast mountain driving, correct turn lines, quick downshifts, gradient calculation and evaluation of each turn.
Theory lesson program
Theory lessons take place at the school's training centre, using electronic learning systems and visual teaching material. The program is designed to support even candidates with no previous car knowledge. Participation in the seminars is arranged through the school office.
The lesson is delivered in a classroom with teaching aids such as an engine cutaway, boards, video material and presentations. The aim is to help the candidate understand the basic operation of the car and recognise simple faults.
The Road Traffic Code seminar explains in detail the rules that affect everyday driving and the candidate's preparation for the theory test.
The student completes computer-based tests at the school, in a format similar to the official theory test at the Ministry of Transport. This helps the candidate become familiar with the process and identify the topics that need revision.
Schedule lessonsFor better theory preparation, the school provides explanatory theory training books. For the car driving license, the book is charged separately.
View the theory booksExamination
Theories can be examined in Greek, English, Russian and Albanian. For the practical exams and the oral exams on the exam day, a basic understanding of Greek is needed, unless the examiner is able to communicate in English.
For candidates over 65, an examination by four doctors is required: a pathologist, an ophthalmologist, an ENT and a neurologist.
